In 24-25 May, part of the Neostud team participated at the 3rd Central European Higher Education Cooperation (CEHEC) Conference in Budapest: Worry or Not – Higher Education in Central and Eastern Europe. Current Trends and Scenarios for the Near Future.
CSIII Viorel Proteasa held a presentation entitled “Putting organizations at the center of students’ movements: a Central-Eastern European exceptionalism?” focusing on a new theoretical understanding of student organisations in the context of Central and Eastern Europe’s historical specificity.
The 15th edition of the International Symposium “Ideologies, values and political behaviors in Central and Eastern Europe”
24-25 March 2017
The event is organized by the Politics Department, West University of Timisoara and aims to bring together researchers interested in Central and Eastern European politics. We welcome paper proposals from scholars on political topics in Central and Eastern Europe as detailed below. The proposal should be no longer than one page and it should include a short Curriculum Vitae. All selected participants will be informed before the 15th of March 2017.
Selected papers will be published in a forthcoming volume of the Political Studies Forum, a journal edited by the Politics Department of the West University of Timisoara.

A 15-a ediție a Simpozionului Internațional „Ideologii, valori și comportamente politice în Europa Centrală și de Est”

Evenimentul este organizat de Departamentul de Științe Politice al Universității de Vest din Timișoara și își propune să întrunească cercetători interesați de politica Europei Centrale și de Est. Sunt binevenite lucrări pe subiecte politice din Europa Centrală și de Est, după cum este detaliat în cele ce urmează. Propunerea nu trebuie să depășească o pagină, și poate include un scurt Curriculum VItae. Toți participanții selectați vor fi anunțați până în data de 15 Martie 2017.
Articolele selectate vor fi publicate în următorul volum al Political Studies Forum, un jurnal editat de Departamentul de Științe Politice al Universității de Vest din Timișoara.

The NEOSTUD team participated in a conference organized at the West University of Timișoara, Interdisciplinary perspectives in Central and Eastern Europe Historiography – Social Sciences Panel , a conference destined to those concerned with social science research, from novices to experts. The panel included presentations on the part of Andra Roescu, from University of Southampton, Toma Burean from UBB, and many other young researchers from several universities: CEU, SNSPA and UB. The NEOSTUD team contributed to the conference with a presentation on the subject of The institutional challenges of unionism: the case of Romanian student organizations.
In 18 – 19 November 2016, the International Conference History of Higher Education: Student Movements, Human Capital and Expert Culture will take place in Bucharest. The conference will take place at the Faculty of History of the University of Bucharest (Bd. Elisabesta, nr. 4-12).
The conference will take place in the framework of the research project by the National Research Council Economic Planning, Higher Education, and the Accumulation of Human Capital in Romania during Communism (1948-1989 and will be supported by the project From corporatism to diversity: A neoinstitutionalist Study of Representative Student Organisations in Post-Communist Romania (code PN-II-RU-TE-2014-4-2296, contract no. 379/2015).
The researchers working on the NEOSTUD project will also participate with two presentations: “Political” Opportunity Structure for Student Collective Action in Post-communist Romania and A Tentative Map of Student Representation in Post-Communist Romania: Coallitions, Cleaveages and Fragmentation.
